Meal Swap Generation Fail


In this guide we will cover meal swap generation fail, what they mean, and how you can fix.
You will be notified via email when the platform cannot find an appropriate meal when a client requests a meal swap. 

The main reason this occurs is when there are no other suitable meal options for this client. This can either be because the client has restricted the number of meals themselves (by selecting too many dislikes/allergies), or the system has limited number of meals (niche category chosen, very high/low requirements were calculated for the client). 

These are explained in more detail below. 

1. The customer has chosen a lot of dislikes and allergies. 

If a client has selected too many dislikes/allergies, then the system will be trying to find suitable meals from a restricted number of meals that do not contain their dislikes which cannot be done.

2. The meal category selected has limited meals. 

If the customer selects a nutrition category that has a limited number of meals associated, the platform may not be able to find an alternative meal that fits the customers criteria (calories/macros). 

How to fix permanently - If you are seeing this a lot on a particular category, you can either look at adding additional meals, or making it clear that general is the preferred category for pickier eaters. 

The best way to fix these as a one off is manually selecting an alternative meal for the client. Highlighted below. 


Manual fix - You can manually select an alternative meal for the client by manually editing the clients plan and choosing a meal (whole database shows up, opposed to only showing the categories meals), and scaling this to meet the individuals requirements. Shown below:
